What does a typical day at Arthrex look like for you?

A typical day for me starts with checking the status of my projects. I generally work on a variety of different projects at a time, which can range from new equipment for production, designing and modifying production fixtures, or improving a current process. For example, if production is having problems with their current assembly fixtures, I try to modify or prototype a new design that could help resolve the issue.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy the most about my job is that every day is completely different. One day I could be getting quotes for new machinery that we will be acquiring and the next I could be designing a fixture that will aid the team in the assembling process of our hand instruments. I enjoy interacting with my fellow manufacturing associates and getting their feedback on how I could make their jobs easier and more efficient.

What has been a highlight during your time at Arthrex?

If I had to narrow it down, it would be the most recent annual softball game and golf tournament we had with Arthrex California Technology (ACT). I really enjoyed the team comradery and how we met people from our other facilities. It was my first year playing on the softball team and I really enjoyed it.

Arthrex’s core value is Making People Better. How has Arthrex made you better?

Arthrex has made me a better person because it has helped me focus on my health and well-being. Since joining Arthrex, I’ve started exercising again and taking power walks during breaks with my co-workers. Plus, I’m using the tuition reimbursement benefit to attend community college and hope to transfer to Cal Poly University next year to obtain my mechanical engineering degree. I really appreciate the benefits offered to us as Arthrex employees.

What do you do in your downtime?

I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife and I like going to the gym and I love playing video games with my son. My daughter is a teenager and we’re both into all the new tech devices that come out. We also like taking three-day trips that we call “mini vacations” to San Diego and Las Vegas. When we have time on the weekends, we also like going to our local amusement parks and the L.A. Natural History Museum.
