Arthrex Enhances SynergyHD3 Endoscopic Visualization System with Innovative Web-Based Software Platform

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NAPLES, FL – March 19, 2013 – Arthrex launched a new web-based software platform, Synergy.net, at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting in Chicago, IL.  Synergy.net further expands the functionality of Arthrex’s groundbreaking SynergyHD3 System, and provides a unique and powerful set of tools to increase surgeon and OR efficiency, enhance patient satisfaction and significantly reduce rapidly-rising infrastructure costs for hospitals and surgery centers.

“Patient satisfaction and decreasing costs are the top two priorities in a recent survey of Hospital CEOs by Healthcare Leaders,” said Steve Jones, Director of Business Development at Arthrex.  “Synergy.net expands on the capabilities of the SynergyHD3 System and includes several features to address both of these priorities.”

One year ago, Arthrex revolutionized the global endoscopic market with the introduction of the SynergyHD3 System – new technology that represented a significant departure from what had been available for many years.  This revolutionary system integrates three components -- the latest technology in high definition cameras, LED lighting and an image management system -- into one console with an intuitive tablet interface that networks the components together and greatly simplifies use.  With one push of a button, the system is activated and fully loaded with the surgeon’s individual preferences and surgical case information.

SynergyHD3 also includes the Synergy Surgeon iPad application.  Utilizing an iPad, surgeons can review, edit, and annotate stills and video recordings that are immediately downloaded from the SynergyHD3 System.  The system includes one of the most robust tools for HIPAA compliance on the market, and in many cases, surgeons are choosing to discontinue printing and use the application to create customizable documents and transmit educational postoperative reports to patients electronically.

The introduction of Synergy.net further expands the functionality of the SynergyHD3 System and optimizes OR integration in a simplified, high-tech and cost-effective way through the power of the Web.  Synergy.net provides the following components and capabilities:

  • OR Command (ORC)

--OR Scheduler (ORS) - allows viewing, editing and overall management of the surgical schedule from any authorized computer or mobile device
--OR Live (ORL) - provides real-time access to OR status, including live streaming video from multiple ORs on a single monitor or mobile device, and text communication
--Data Mining - generates reports for performance metrics, such as turnaround time and procedure time
--Synchronizes surgeon preferences across all SynergyHD3 devices, provides secure and reliable data transfer to PACS/EMR, and much more

  • Cloud-Based Web Portal

--Surgeon Vault - provides HIPAA-compliant storage for surgeons with secure access to their data from any location at any time; allows surgeons to send, archive and tag surgical videos and stills
--Template Creator - further enhances the Synergy Surgeon iPad application and the surgeon's ability to customize their postoperative reports and information for a personalized patient experience; video editing tools               available
--Patient Access - provides a secure, password-protected link for patients to access their postoperative reports and information; can include a welcome video from the surgeon, surgical images and videos, postoperative           documents and instructions, illustrations and website links

“Organizations with consistently high levels of patient satisfaction are among the most fiscally successful.  We believe this customized report for patients will go a long way in improving patient satisfaction through a more personalized level of communication,” added Jones.

SynergyHD3 and Synergy.net are designed and produced by Arthrex’s subsidiary Arthrex California Technology (ACT) in Santa Barbara, CA.
